If you are compassionate, safety‑focused, and enjoy helping seniors maintain their independence, RideSenior offers a meaningful and flexible driving opportunity across Canada.
As an independent contractor with RideSenior in Canada, you are responsible for your own business expenses and for providing your own vehicle, unless otherwise specified by a particular contract.
If certain trips require an accessible or specialized vehicle, RideSenior may be able to share third-party leasing or rental options depending on availability and location.
Driver compensation: RideSenior offers transparent, upfront pay for each trip or bundled route before you accept it.
Guaranteed minimums: Where required by provincial or municipal regulations, RideSenior ensures driver earnings meet or exceed applicable minimum compensation standards for engaged driving time and distance.
Opportunity for higher earnings: Many drivers earn more than the minimum guarantees. In some cases, drivers are compensated as a percentage of the ride fare after service fees, or at a per-trip / per-bundle rate, depending on the partner contract.
Rate flexibility: As an independent contractor, you may decline trips or negotiate rates if a particular bundle or assignment does not meet your expectations.
You are responsible for your operating costs, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, insurance, and mobile data.
As a self-employed individual in Canada, you may be eligible to deduct business-related expenses, such as:
Vehicle and fuel expenses
Mileage or prorated vehicle use
Insurance and maintenance
Mobile phone and data plans
RideSenior strongly recommends consulting a Canadian tax professional or accountant for guidance on deductions, GST/HST obligations, and income tax filing.
Auto liability insurance: RideSenior maintains commercial liability coverage, typically $1–$2 million CAD, for incidents occurring while you are actively engaged in a RideSenior trip. Some partner contracts may require higher coverage limits, which RideSenior will arrange when applicable.
Occupational accident insurance: RideSenior provides occupational accident coverage at no cost to the driver. This coverage is designed to provide benefits similar to workplace accident protection for independent contractors.
Disability and accidental injury benefits: Occupational accident coverage may include income replacement or disability benefits for injuries sustained while performing RideSenior services, subject to policy terms.
Accidental death benefits: Coverage may also include accidental death and dismemberment benefits, as defined by the policy.
Drivers are paid on a weekly basis.
Payments are issued approximately 5–7 days after the end of each work week.
Each payment includes a detailed trip statement, allowing drivers to review completed trips, bundled routes, and any applicable bonuses or incentives.
Most RideSenior trips are scheduled in advance, often one or more days before the ride date. Requests may come from:
Individual seniors or family caregivers
Senior living communities
Healthcare providers and rehabilitation centers
Community agencies and municipal partners
Because many trips are known ahead of time, RideSenior frequently organizes rides into efficient multi-trip routes (bundles). Drivers are shown:
All trip details
Total expected earnings for the bundle
Estimated time and distance
Drivers may accept or decline bundles directly through the RideSenior Driver App. Once accepted, the route is assigned and the app provides turn-by-turn guidance and rider instructions.
On-demand trips: Same-day ride requests may arise and are offered to drivers whose schedules and routes can accommodate them.
Shared rides: Some trips may involve multiple passengers with different pickup or drop-off locations. Compensation for shared rides varies by partner agreement. In many cases, drivers benefit from higher utilization time even when per-trip rates remain unchanged.
Drivers always maintain control over which trips they accept and how much they work.
RideSenior operates across Canada and does not fall under California Prop 22 or similar U.S.-specific legislation.
In Canada:
Independent contractors are not eligible for employer-sponsored health benefits through RideSenior.
Drivers are responsible for arranging their own health and dental coverage, if desired.
Occupational accident insurance provided by RideSenior is not a substitute for personal health insurance.
Depending on your province, you may already be covered under a provincial health care plan for medically necessary services. Drivers are encouraged to explore:
Extended health or dental plans
Disability insurance for self-employed individuals
Income replacement coverage
RideSenior continues to monitor regulatory developments in Canada and will update drivers if new benefit programs or requirements are introduced at the federal or provincial level.
